"Behold, I have set this land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your Fathers, Abraham, Isaac and to Jacob [Jacob's name was later changed to Israel], to give it unto them...

and their descendants after them." (Deuteronomy 1:8) (The Dead Sea)

Israel. Is where we will begin. I know some of you may have very strong feelings about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. In spite of this, would you please indulge me with a bit of your attention and allow me to begin our prophetic journey with the nation of Israel? I bring you Israel first, because it is a miraculous - in your face - over the top - prophetic masterpiece.

First, let us go back in time when it was foretold that the people of Israel would be scattered throughout the world. Judah is the portion of Israel where Jerusalem is located.

"He [God] will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the Earth." (Isaiah 11:12)

The prophet Isaiah lived in the 8th century BC. Isaiah is among one of the Old Testament books found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. And although Israel had gone into captivity a few times before the Romans destroyed their second Temple in 70 AD, they were always held by one nation. However, after the second Temple was destroyed, The people of Israel were dispersed throughout the world. And Israel ceased to be a nation for almost two thousand years, until May 14, 1948.

After the wholesale slaughter of the Jews by Nazi Germany and many nations refusing to allow the Jewish refugees into their countries; numerous Jews found themselves seeking refuge in Palestine (formerly known as the land of Israel) that was then ruled by the British Government. In 1946 President Truman approved to admit 100,000 Jews into Palestine and declared his support for the creation of a Jewish State. On May 14, 1948 the British Mandate over Palestine ended, and David Ben-Gurion became the first Prime Minister of Israel.

"Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment? For as soon as Zion [Israel/Jerusalem] was in labor she brought forth her children." (Isaiah 66:8)

This is important to note: The Bible claims the return of the Jews to Israel is a signal for the nations. We will see what this signal is as we proceed.

It was absolutely unbelievable that this event could ever happen. Throughout the two thousand years that the Jews were dispersed throughout the world, not even Bible Scholars took the verses about Israel coming back into their homeland seriously. Shame.

The prophet Jeremiah died in 500 BC. In the book of Jeremiah we read this:

"Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that it shall no more be said, the Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, the LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where I have driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers." (Jeremiah 16:14-15)

It is such a miracle that Israel would again come into their land after being dispersed for 2000 years that Jeremiah likens it to the the Jews being delivered out of Egypt and crossing the Red Sea. (Movie: Ten Commandments - if you haven't seen it you should!) Notice he specifically claims that many of the dispersed Jews will come from the land of the north. The land north of Israel is Russia. In the 1980's Michael Gorbachev opened the borders of the USSR and allowed Jews to leave their country for Israel. From that time until 2017, the total number of Jews immigrating to Israel from the former territories of the USSR is 3,108,678 and counting. (1)

"Immigration to Israel rose 28% in the first half of 2019, predominately by a rise in Russian Jews." (2)

In 1984 thousands of Ethiopian Jews had fled to Sudan in order to to be housed in refugee camps to be evacuated into Israel. In this "Operation Moses" approximately 7,000 Jews were able to safely arrive in Israel. In 1991 "Operation Solomon" managed to evacuate another 14,000 Ethiopian Jews and bring them safely to Israel. Thus saving most of the Ethiopian Jews known as the Beta Israel Tribe. (3) This amazing rescue was recently depicted in a Netflick's film entitled, "The Red Sea Diving Resort."

There is a long history of anti-Semitism, but even in this "age of enlightenment" it seems that some things just do not change. The difference is, this time the Jews have a choice to return to their homeland and often with financial assistance. This is a powerful demonstration of Biblical prophecy coming to pass. Confirming those ancient prophetic voices that declared Israel would once again be a mighty nation.

"Further evidence of the world’s hatred of the Jewish people is to be found in the rising wave of anti–Semitism that is currently sweeping Europe and the emigration to Israel that it is provoking. It is a phenomenon that was featured on the cover of Newsweek magazine in August of 2014, entitled EXODUS. It shows a picture of a young Jewish girl holding a suitcase with the caption, 'Why Europe's Jews are Fleeing Once Again.' Here’s how a feature article in US News and World Report put it in their April of 2015 issue: 'Seventy years after the Holocaust, anti–Semitism is again growing more virulent in Europe. From Toulouse to Paris, London to Berlin, Brussels to Copenhagen, Jews are being harassed, assaulted and even killed.'" (7,9)

France is seeing quite a surge in anti-Semitism which is causing a resurgence of Jews looking to move to Israel. France is home to Europe's largest Jewish community. "The French interior minister announced that anti-Semitic violence in the country had increased by 74% in 2018." (4)

To date, there are approximately 8,300,000 people living in Israel, of which 75% are Jewish. (5)

It was not until June 1967 that Jerusalem was once again part of the land of Israel. Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq attacked Israel and within 6 days (The Six Day War), not only had Israel won the war, but it had doubled its land holdings to include the Sinai Peninsula, Golan Heights, Gaza Strip and the West Bank. On that fateful day of June 7th 1967 history was made as paratroopers advanced through Jerusalem toward the Temple Mount and the Western Wall ( A remnant of the 2nd Temple destroyed in 70 AD) bringing Jerusalem's holiest site under Jewish control for the first time in 2000 years. In fact for the last 2000 years, before being recaptured, the Temple Mount was forbidden to the Jews. (5,6)

For a country the size of New Jersey it has captured the attention of the whole world. In fact, the Bible specifically declares that the whole world will come against her and we are well on our way. Since the United Nations Human Rights Council came into existence in 2006, Israel has been condemned 62 times, Syria 17, North Korea 8 and Iran 5. Not once was China, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan etc... countries who have notoriously abused their people and people groups (some in the most gruesome manner.) given violations! From 2012 - 2015 the U.N. General Assembly had adopted 97 resolutions. 83 out of 97 or 86% have been against Israel. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) adopts approximately 10 resolutions a year. ALL have been against Israel for the exception of one resolution against Syria in 2013 after receiving pressure from an United Nations watch group. The only country in the world condemned by WHO (World Health Organization is Israel. There are also 30 UN nations that do not recognize Israel as a nation. (8) It seems that the atrocities that go only daily throughout the World by countries against their citizens are paled in comparison to the Palestine/Israeli conflict.

"...and in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the people..." (Zechariah 12:3)

In fact, the Bible states that the last war waged on Earth will be against Israel. A subject we will look into at a later date.

Why is this all so important? Because, it was all foretold thousands of years ago that Israel would once again gain control of their ancient land - including Jerusalem, just before the return of Jesus. This is the signal for the nations. It is a very important, pivotal prophetic sign.

"When the LORD shall build up Zion [Israel/Jerusalem], He shall appear in His glory." (Psalm102:16)
